Impact of music on pain perception during office-based transperineal prostate biopsy: a prospective non-randomized study
Abstract Although music has been shown to alleviate pain and anxiety during transrectal PBx, limited evidence is available regarding its impact in the transperineal (TP) setting. This study aimed to investigate the effect of music on pain perception during office-based TP PBx. This prospective, comparative, non-randomized study enrolled biopsy-naïve patients undergoing TP PBx between March 2024 and March 2025. A total of 200 patients were equally assigned to the intervention group (listening to music during PBx) or the control group. Pain was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at six predefined timepoints (T0–T5). A differential pain score (D-VAS) was calculated at each timepoint, using the VAS score at T0 as the baseline. Changes over time between the two groups were analyzed using independent t-tests and a linear mixed-effects model. An interaction term between music and timepoints was included to test whether the effect of music on pain perception varied across the different stages of the procedure. Compared with controls, D-VAS was significantly lower in the music group at the first core (T3, p = 0.025), last core (T4, p < 0.001) and at discharge (T5, p < 0.001). No significant differences were observed during local anesthesia (T1-T2). The Mixed-effects model confirmed these findings and revealed that both pain perception and the relative analgesic effect of music varied accross different stages of the procedure. Listening to music was associated with lower pain perception during TP PBx, particularly during biopsy sampling phases, and resulted in lower pain levels at discharge.

GIS-based analysis of field margin photovoltaic potential at the landscape level in northwestern Germany
Abstract Climate change and other factors require transformations of the agricultural sector towards sustainable land use practice. The integration of renewable energy systems, particularly photovoltaics, into agricultural and rural land-use systems receives increased attention to decarbonise resource use and consumption and to stabilise incomes and livelihoods in rural regions. This study analyses the quantitative potential of a new concept, Field Margin Photovoltaics , in north-western Lower Saxony, Germany. This concept combines crop cultivation, photovoltaics and biodiversity promotion with wildflower strips and/or hedges. We use a GIS workflow to quantify marginal structures from landscape models, relying on available geospatial data from regional authorities. The marginal structures are categorised based on suitability criteria and solar exposure to estimate the potential energy yield in the region. The results of a regional analysis show that field margins allow a significant contribution to renewable energy production without significantly compromising other land uses. For a region of almost 15,000 square kilometres, more than 1.3 million field margin sections with solar potential were considered. The total length of potentially suitable margins was calculated to be 97,870 km. About 27,300 km were predicted to be partly shaded. Estimating the integration of photovoltaic modules with a surface area of one to four square metres per metre of field margin would result in a theoretical maximum energy potential of around 119 TWh. The modelling work is part of a transdisciplinary project to address various aspects of transformation research ( www.vier-n.de ). The GIS analyses presented here serve for regional planning and stakeholder discourses together with a living lab approach.

Performance and mix ratio optimization test of building solid waste modified double liquid grouting material
Abstract In order to study the influence of red brick powder and water reducing agent content on the fluidity and compressive strength of construction modified solid waste double liquid grouting material (CSWMLGM), the response surface regression model was constructed, and the experimental measured values and predicted values were compared and analyzed. The CSWMLGM optimized mix ratio was obtained by combining the desirability function. The results show that the fluidity regression model has high precision and strong reliability. The regression model of compressive strength is significantly effective and can be used for the analysis of test results. The interaction between water cement ratio and red brick powder content, water cement ratio and water reducing agent content has a significant effect on fluidity. The interaction between water-cement ratio and red brick powder content, water-cement ratio and water reducing agent content, red brick powder and water reducing agent content has a significant effect on compressive strength. The model predicts that the optimal mix ratio is water-cement ratio of 1.08, red brick powder content of 23.2%, and water reducing agent content of 0.26%. The absolute value of the relative error between the predicted value and the experimental value is less than 5%. The model can reveal the mechanism of the material and provide a new scientific basis and reference for the optimization of the mix ratio of high-value double-liquid grouting materials for building solid waste.
Modified Dhole-inspired optimization for maximum power extraction in photovoltaic systems under partial shading
Abstract In photovoltaic systems, PSC occur when PV panels are exposed to nonuniform solar irradiance levels. Extracting the maximum power from PV systems operating under PSC represents a complex and challenging task for MPPT algorithms. Optimization-based MPPT techniques have therefore gained significant attention due to their ability to achieve fast convergence and high efficiency under such conditions. In this study, a novel M-DHO algorithm is proposed by integrating the DHO algorithm, which is inspired by the cooperative hunting behavior of the Asiatic wild dog, with a Levy flight strategy to enhance global search capability. Especially with Levy flight support, the M-DHO algorithm eliminates the problems of fast convergence and getting stuck in a local minimum. Furthermore, while the fast convergence problem is eliminated, the Levy Flight algorithm allows reaching the global maximum value faster with high accuracy in complex optimization problems. Nine distinct PSC scenarios are created across six different voltage regions, and the performance of the proposed M-DHO algorithm is comparatively assessed against GWO, WOA, FPA, and the conventional DHO algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed M-DHO algorithm achieves faster convergence to the global maximum power point and higher tracking efficiency compared to the benchmark algorithms. When averaged over all scenarios, M-DHO achieved an average extracted power of 838.58W, tracking speed of 0.15s and an average tracking efficiency of 99.52%, outperforming other algorithms.
