Semantic enhancement and cross-modal interaction fusion for sentiment analysis in social media
The rapid development of social media has significantly impacted sentiment analysis, essential for understanding public opinion and predicting social trends. However, modality fusion in sentiment analysis can introduce a lot of noise because of the differences in semantic representations among various modalities, ultimately impacting the accuracy of classification results. Thus, this paper presents a Semantic Enhancement and Cross-Modal Interaction Fusion (SECIF) model for sentiment analysis to address these issues. Firstly, BERT and ResNet extract feature representations from text and images. Secondly, the GMHA mechanism is proposed to aggregate important semantic information and mitigate the influence of noise. Then, an ICN module is created to capture complex contextual dependencies and enhance the capability of text feature representations. Finally, a cross-modal interaction fusion module is implemented. Text features are considered primary, and image features are auxiliary, enabling the profound integration of textual and visual features. The model's performance is optimized by combining cross-entropy and KL divergence losses. The experiments are conducted using a dataset collected from public opinion events on Sina Weibo. The results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms comparison models. The SECIF model improves by 11.19%, 82.27%, and 4.83% over the average accuracy of the text-only, image-only, and multimodal models, respectively. The proposed SECIF model is compared with ten baseline models on the publicly available datasets. The experimental results show that the SECIF model improves accuracy by 4.70% and F1 score by 6.56%. Through multimodal sentiment analysis, governments can better understand public emotions and opinion trends, facilitating more targeted and effective management strategies.
A mix-and-match reverse genetics system for evaluating genetic determinants of orthobunyavirus neurological disease
The encephalitic orthobunyaviruses have tri-segmented, negative sense RNA genomes and can cause severe neurological disease in humans, including La Crosse virus (LACV), which is the leading cause of pediatric arboviral encephalitis in the United States. However, little is known about the genetic factors that drive neuropathogenesis. Reverse genetics systems (RGS) are valuable tools for studying viral genetics and pathogenesis. Plasmid-based cDNA reverse genetics systems are available for LACV, however the plasmid backbones are medium-copy number and have a propensity for recombination. We therefore generated a plasmid-based cDNA reverse genetics system for LACV utilizing a more stable and high-copy number plasmid backbone. Additionally, we created the first full reverse genetics systems for two closely related orthobunyaviruses, Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV), and Inkoo virus (INKV), which have differing reported disease incidences in humans and differing neuropathogenic phenotypes in mice compared to LACV. We compared wild type (wt) viruses with RGS-derived wt viruses in human neuronal cells and in mice, and found that RGS-derived wt viruses maintained the replication and neuropathogenic phenotypes of their wt counterpart. Additionally, we demonstrated that reverse genetics plasmids from different parental viruses can be readily mixed-and-matched to generate reassortant viruses. This system provides a valuable genetic tool utilizing viruses with differing neuropathogenic phenotypes to investigate the genetic determinants of orthobunyavirus neuropathogenesis.
Evaluation of a combination adherence strategy to support HIV antiretroviral therapy for pregnancy and breastfeeding in Malawi: A pilot randomized clinical trial
Background There has been tremendous progress in reducing vertical transmission of HIV in the past two decades due to the broad availability of antiretroviral therapy (ART) globally. Despite this progress, new paediatric infections are still occurring. Methods In a pilot study, we evaluated a combination adherence support package, which included an adapted motivational interviewing-informed counselling approach (Integrated Next Step Counselling, iNSC) and an optional adherence supporter, for pregnant and breastfeeding women living with HIV. Participants were recruited from the antenatal clinic in Lilongwe, Malawi. Eligible participants were randomly allocated 1:1 to receive either the combination adherence package (intervention) or standard care (control) at the health facility. Our clinical outcome, measured at three- and six-month follow-up, was a composite endpoint of study retention with HIV viral suppression (HIV RNA <40 copies per mL). Results We screened 106 women living with HIV between March and July 2020. Of these, 100 women enrolled and were randomly assigned to intervention (n=51) or control (n=49). The majority of participants (94 of 100; 94%) were newly diagnosed with HIV. Retention in care was 92% at three months and 84% at six months. Three-quarters of women retained in care were virally suppressed at the three- and six-month study visits. At three months, our composite outcome (retention & viral suppression) was achieved by 70.6% (36/51) and 69.4% (34/49) of women in the intervention and control groups, respectively. At six months, this composite outcome was achieved by 68.6% (35/51) of the intervention group and 61.2% (30/49) of the control group (probability difference: 7.4%, 95% CI: -11.3%, 26.1%). Conclusion These encouraging pilot findings suggest that this combination adherence package could be used to support ART adherence among pregnant and breastfeeding women living with HIV. We demonstrate feasibility of using a combined measure of adherence and viral suppression as an outcome measure. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04330989).
The comparative effectiveness of progressive relaxation training on pain characteristics, attack frequency, activity self-efficacy, and pain-related disability in women with episodic tension-type headache and migraine
Background and purpose Episodic tension headache (TTH) and migraine, both categorized as primary headache types, account for 60–90% of headache complaints and are three times more common among young women. This study aimed to explore the comparative effectiveness of progressive relaxation training (PRT) on pain characteristics, attack frequency, activity self-efficacy, and pain-related disability in women with episodic TTH and migraine. Materials and methods This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06050382). This prospective study included women with episodic TTH (n=20) and migraine (n=20). The pain intensity, impact of headaches on life, activity self-efficacy, pain catastrophizing, and pain-related disability levels of both groups were measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Headache Impact Test (HIT-6), Occupational Self-Assessment Scale (OSAS), Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), and World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2 (WHODAS-II) pre- and post-intervention, respectively. Both TTH and migraine groups received PRT twice a week for six weeks, Results Within-group comparisons showed significant decreases in attack frequency, VAS, HIT-6, PCS, and WHODAS-II scores in both groups post-intervention (p<0.001). Also, both groups showed an increase in OSAS proficiency scores (p<0.001). The between-group comparison showed that the attack frequency, VAS, HIT-6, PCS, and WHODAS-II scores were lower in the migraine group than the TTH group. However, all sub-scores of the OSAS were higher in the migraine group (p<0.001). Conclusions PRT showed positive effects on pain intensity, attack frequency, activity self-efficacy, and pain-related disability in both groups, more so in the TTH group.
Multi-parametric quantitative MRI of the lower limb muscles in a longitudinal study of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy R9
Background and Objectives Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy R9 (LGMD-R9) is a rare neuromuscular disease with no curative treatment. Sensitive non-invasive biomarkers are necessary to monitor disease progression and evaluate the efficacy of novel therapies. Here, we investigated several quantitative MRI parameters as suitable biomarkers for evaluating disease progression in LGMD-R9. Methods Bilateral quantitative MRI of the lower limbs was performed in individuals with LGMD-R9 and healthy controls. Quantitative thigh and leg muscle MRI, functional tests (including time-up-and-go (TUG) and time-to-climb-4-stairs (4S climb)), and muscle strength tests were performed in individuals with LGMD-R9 at baseline, 1-year, and 2-years. qMRI included assessment of muscle fat fraction (FF), water T2, water T1, intramuscular pH from 1H MR spectroscopy, and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) parameters. Differences between LGMD-R9 and controls, over time, and the relationship between baseline water T1 and water T2 parameters and disease progression (FF, functional and strength parameters) were assessed by linear mixed models and correlation analyses. Results 18 individuals with LGMD-R9 and 13 controls were enrolled. At baseline, elevated FF, water T2, water T1, and pH were observed in LGMD-R9 (p < 0.05). No differences between controls and LGMD-R9 were found in the DTI parameters. An overall tendency to an increase in FF and a decrease in functional measures were observed over 2 years. However, the changes did not reach significance (p = 0.057–0.752). Baseline water T1 and baseline water T2 correlated with the increase in FF (ΔFF) and change in TUG (ΔTUG) and 4S climb (Δ4S climb) over 2 years (correlation coefficient ≥ 0.6, p < 0.05). No correlation with the strength measures was found. Conclusion Our findings suggest that FF, water T2, water T1, and pH are effective biomarkers for LGMD-R9. The correlation of water T2 and water T1 with ΔFF, ΔTUG, and Δ4S climb suggests their potential in predicting disease progression.
Vitelline Warbler (Setophaga vitellina) songs, calls, and habitat preferences: novel acoustic descriptions of a range-restricted Caribbean songbird
The Vitelline Warbler (Setophaga vitellina) is an understudied species endemic to a few small islands in the western Caribbean. Little is known beyond its phylogenetic relationship to other New World warblers. We used island-wide surveys and bioacoustic recordings to investigate the distribution, vocalizations, and ecology of S. vitellina across a significant portion of the species’ range on Little Cayman Island. We recorded 417 songs from 91 individuals and analyzed the length, frequency, and shape of various song components. We observed and characterized high variation in the composition and character of songs within the Little Cayman population. We also describe the call of the species and use sound files from across the species’ range to compare vocalizations between islands. Vitelline Warbler abundance is highest in dry forest and dry scrub habitats, suggesting that these habitats are most important for the species. Elaboration of the vocalizations of understudied species like the Vitelline Warbler has the potential to further our understanding of avian evolution and behavior. As much still remains to be learned from this species, action must be taken to protect its critical habitats, especially dry forests, among other conservation measures.
Follow-up of bowel endometriosis resections performed using the double circular stapler technique: A decade’s experience
Study objective To report individual early and long-term functional outcomes of 43 women who underwent double circular stapler technique (DCST) for colorectal deep endometriosis (DE). Methods This multidisciplinary observational study was a retrospective case series report exploiting a long-established database of clinical information from a single private institution. The cohort consists of consecutive patients from January/2010 through July/2021 who underwent minimally invasive surgical treatment of DE. Inclusion criteria: all women whose bowel DE was managed by DCST. The assessment of bowel function was based on Obstructed Defecation Syndrome score, Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale and Bowel Function in the Community Tool. Outcomes also included intra and postoperative complications, lower urinary tract symptoms, endometriosis-related menstrual and nonmenstrual pain (numeric rating scale), and conception. The analysis of the results was guided by a semi-qualitative reasoning based on individual changes. Results The follow-up ranged from 1.4 to 123.8 months (median 38.2). All women presented with DE (mostly rASRM stage 4) and underwent large resections. No procedure was converted to open surgery nor required blood transfusion or ostomies. There was no anastomotic leakage. The risk of rectovaginal bowel fistula was 2.3% (CI 95%: <0.1-7.0) – one case. No patient had long-term urinary retention after surgery. At the most recent follow-up on dysuria, dyschezia, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and cyclic low back pain, 88 to 100% of women had favorable responses (improvements ≥ 3 points in symptomatic women or asymptomatic women who remained pain-free). One patient reported important worsening of her intestinal function, requiring continuous use of laxatives. Considering the 20 women with pregnancy intent, 14 (70%) conceived after surgery. Discussion / conclusion Preliminary results were encouraging in the past. The current assessment including long-term follow-up supports DCST for colorectal DE as a feasible, useful, and safe strategy for avoiding segmental colorectal resection when appropriately indicated and properly performed.
What is the global perspective on advanced practice physiotherapy: A qualitative study across five countries
Background Despite the growth of advanced practice physiotherapy (APP) and the evidence of its effectiveness, challenges persist in implementing and sustaining this model of care. The main challenge is the lack of a universally accepted definition. The lack of a clear understanding of what APP is, who can become advanced practice physiotherapists, and the required educational qualifications leads to widespread confusion among patients, employers, and healthcare providers. Aim Our study aims to explore the global perspectives of advanced practice physiotherapy. Objectives: 1.To understand how APP is defined and develop a common definition across countries. 2.To understand the difference between APP and clinical specialists. 3.To understand the clinical practice challenges of working as an advanced practice physiotherapist. Methods A qualitative descriptive study was carried out through four online focus groups with participants from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Participants were selected using purposive sampling, and the focus groups were recorded, transcribed and analyzed. An initial coding framework was developed by two coders, with subsequent coding performed by one of the coders. Data were analyzed using reflective thematic analysis and reported following the Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research (SRQR). Results Sixteen participants were recruited, twelve were advanced practice physiotherapists, and four were leaders or researchers. Three major themes were developed: (1) Advanced practice physiotherapists have a higher clinical expertise and a high level of responsibility, (2) Advanced practice physiotherapists are distinct from specialists based on the competencies, scope, and regulation, (3) Professional and operational challenges are associated with APP. Ten (10) sub-themes associated with the major themes were developed and presented in a thematic map. Conclusion This study provided a common definition of APP, distinguished advanced practitioners from clinical specialists, and discussed challenges to implementation. The study explores the complexities of APP and specialization, emphasizing the obstacles faced by practitioners. The proposed definition can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of local and regional healthcare needs. Addressing the challenges to implementation could support the sustainability of the APP model of care.
Induction of autophagy in one-cell stage somatic cell nuclear transfer embryos improves preimplantation embryonic development in goat species
Autophagy is a lysosome-mediated catabolic pathway that is dependent on the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). It plays a crucial role in the degradation of aged organelles and macromolecules. Several studies have explored the role of autophagy in embryonic genome activation and its significance during the early preimplantation development of mammals. In our study, we showed that autophagy is inhibited in one-cell stage SCNT embryos when compared to fertilized counterparts in goats. Notably, we found that 6-DMAP, a kinase inhibitor, reduces the phosphorylation of ERK1/2.This reduction correlates with a decrease in autophagy levels, as indicated by the presence of LC3 puncta in 6-DMAP treated embryos. To address the inhibition of autophagy in goat SCNT embryos, we induced autophagy using Rapamycin at concentrations of 10 and 100 nM for 6 hours, immediately following chemical activation. This induction led to a significant improvement in the development of goat SCNT embryos, as evidenced by an increased blastocyst rate compared to the control group. Our findings suggest that the induction of autophagy during early hours of one-cell stage embryos is critical for pre-implantation development in goat SCNT embryos warrant further investigation. This research opens new avenues for understanding the role of autophagy in embryonic development and its applications in reproductive biotechnology.
Prompt architecture induces methodological artifacts in large language models
We examine how the seemingly arbitrary way a prompt is posed, which we term “prompt architecture,” influences responses provided by large language models (LLMs). Five large-scale, full-factorial experiments performing standard (zero-shot) similarity evaluation tasks using GPT-3, GPT-4, and Llama 3.1 document how several features of prompt architecture (order, label, framing, and justification) interact to produce methodological artifacts, a form of statistical bias. We find robust evidence that these four elements unduly affect responses across all models, and although we observe differences between GPT-3 and GPT-4, the changes are not necessarily for the better. Specifically, LLMs demonstrate both response-order bias and label bias, and framing and justification moderate these biases. We then test different strategies intended to reduce methodological artifacts. Specifying to the LLM that the order and labels of items have been randomized does not alleviate either response-order or label bias, and the use of uncommon labels reduces (but does not eliminate) label bias but exacerbates response-order bias in GPT-4 (and does not reduce either bias in Llama 3.1). By contrast, aggregating across prompts generated using a full factorial design eliminates response-order and label bias. Overall, these findings highlight the inherent fallibility of any individual prompt when using LLMs, as any prompt contains characteristics that may subtly interact with a multitude of hidden associations embedded in rich language data.
The German Auditory and Image (GAudI) vocabulary test: A new German receptive vocabulary test and its relationships to other tests measuring linguistic experience
Humans acquire word knowledge through producing and comprehending spoken and written language. Word learning continues into adulthood and knowledge accumulates across the lifespan. Therefore, receptive vocabulary size is often conceived of as a proxy for linguistic experience and plays a central role in assessing individuals’ language proficiency. There is currently no valid open access test available for assessing receptive vocabulary size in German-speaking adults. We addressed this gap and developed the German Auditory and Image Vocabulary Test (GAudI). In the GAudI, participants are presented with spoken test words and have to indicate their meanings by selecting the corresponding picture from a set of four alternatives. Here we describe the development of the test and provide evidence for its validity. Specifically, we report a study in which 168 German-speaking participants completed the GAudI and five other tests tapping into linguistic experience: one test measuring print exposure, two tests measuring productive vocabulary, one test assessing knowledge of book language grammar, and a test of receptive vocabulary that was normed in adolescents. The psychometric properties of the GAudI and its relationships to the other tests demonstrate that it is a suitable tool for measuring receptive vocabulary size. University students’ self-assessment of data literacy: A validation study
As data literacy has emerged as a critical skill for professionals across industries, educators in higher education have incorporated it into their curricula and instruction. Understanding and evaluating the factors that shape an individual’s data literacy is important for benchmarking proficiency and tailoring curricula, yet the underlying components and structure of data literacy for students in four-year institutions are unknown. This study validated the Data Literacy Self-Efficacy Scale (DLSES) with 1,816 students enrolled in two four-year institutions. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to determine the construct of the scale, and the item analysis was used to address the validity of the items on the scale. The exploratory factor analysis identified eight distinct factors comprising 29 items. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed a good model fit, CFI = 0.994, TLI = 0.994, RMSEA = 0.053, SRMR = 0.044. This study demonstrated the 29-item refined version of the DLSES to be a reliable and valid tool for measuring individuals’ self-efficacy levels for data literacy. Furthermore, the scale could form the basis for curriculum development and help educators design targeted interventions that address specific learning needs.
Spatiotemporal dynamics of visitors to Jeju Island: Hotspot and spatial autocorrelation analyses using mobile phone data
This study used mobile phone data to examine the spatiotemporal patterns and preferences of domestic visitors to Jeju Island, South Korea and integrated hourly floating population data to examine visitor characteristics by season, day of the week, time of the day, and inflow regions; identified hotspots at the census block level; and involved spatial autocorrelation analysis. The primary findings indicate that visitor numbers vary significantly by season, with summer and winter seasons attracting the highest number of tourists. The analysis revealed a concentration of visitors around Jeju Airport and the Jungmun Tourist Complex, suggesting that these are key hotspots. The inflow analysis underscores a dominant influx from major urban centers, particularly Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The Global Moran’s Index confirmed a positive spatial autocorrelation across all seasons, with the strongest correlation observed in winter. The local spatial autocorrelation analysis identified significant clustering in hotspots, highlighting spatial interdependencies critical for marketing and infrastructure planning. This study uses big data analytics to advance the understanding of tourist behavior, offering critical insights for crafting sustainable tourism strategies and policies that align with demographic, temporal, and seasonal dynamics. The findings not only contribute to current empirical research but could also aid local governments and stakeholders in optimizing tourism management and enhancing visitor experiences on Jeju Island.
Hospitalization dynamics during COVID-19: Insights into disease trends and patient outcomes
Objectives To find the pattern of hospitalization pattern change in COVID-19 pandemic, we aimed to compare the admission and mortality rate of each disease in all wards before and during the pandemic. Methods Data for all ICD-10 disease categories were collected from 17 shahrivar hospital database for 14922 patients before (23 July 2017–23 January 2020 (and 10941 patients during the pandemic (20 February 2020- 20 September 2022). We compared the age, sex, duration of hospitalization, the frequency of readmission and outcome of patients in these two periords. Also the number of patients in each ICD-10 category and in each ward was compared. Results Comparing the two periods revealed a decrease in overall admission frequency (14,922 vs. 10,941 patients). During the pandemic, patients experienced significantly shorter hospital stays (P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the number of patients entering remission or experiencing mortality (P = 0.063). Notably, admissions for neoplasms, blood disorders, nervous system conditions, eye disorders, circulatory and digestive system issues, genitourinary system disorders, congenital malformations, and poisoning significantly increased during the pandemic, while admissions for other conditions decreased. Admissions varied significantly across departments, with notable increases in the NICU, PICU, emergency, neonatal, and hematology departments during the pandemic (P < 0.001). Conclusions In conclusion, our findings highlight the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on hospitalization patterns, equipping healthcare managers to improve resource allocation and readiness for future health challenges.
Study protocol for an observational research study with an embedded N-of-1 design: Increasing the availability of goal-oriented cognitive rehabilitation for people living with dementia in Ireland
Background Goal-Oriented Cognitive Rehabilitation (GREAT-CR) is an evidence-based early intervention for people with mild-moderate dementia that improves goal attainment and functional outcomes. In Ireland, this intervention is not widely available, likely due to resource shortages within memory services. This project aims to pilot and evaluate a new service delivery model for GREAT-CR, and to assess its impact on goal attainment, cognition, and quality of life for people living with dementia. Methods This pilot study implements a new service-delivery model where trainee psychologists will offer GREAT-CR within Memory Clinics in Ireland. Sub-study 1 will evaluate the impact of GREAT-CR in this context and sub-study 2 will evaluate the implementation model. Sub-study 1 will employ a quantitative pre-post design with an embedded randomized N-of-1 experimental design. Outcomes will include goal attainment, quality of life, and cognitive function. A subset of three participants will be randomly selected for an N-of-1, single-case experimental design evaluation. The N-of-1 design will include within-case and start-point randomization. Sub-study 2 will include a mixed-methods approach to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, appropriateness, and potential sustainability of the implementation model at organizational, practitioner, and service-user levels. We will conduct semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders and analyze the data using framework analysis. Quantitative implementation outcomes will be assessed against predefined targets to support qualitative findings. Discussion The results will inform guidelines for wider service delivery. This project aims to ensure immediate and long-term impacts for participants with early-stage dementia and their carers by increasing opportunities to access evidence-based psychosocial interventions; for trainee psychologists by creating novel placement opportunities; and for service providers by disseminating GREAT-CR implementation recommendations. By addressing current staffing and resource limitations, this model has the potential to enhance the availability of GREAT-CR for dementia patients in Ireland.

Complete exciton Hamiltonian for photosynthetic pigment–protein complexes
The standard exciton theory used for describing spectroscopy of molecular complexes usually assumes an infinite exciton lifetime, coming from complete isolation of Hamiltonian blocks describing a different number of excitations. We focus on extending the model by including environment-induced non-resonant couplings in the Hamiltonian, which couple different numbers of excitons. We analyze their impact on the absorption spectra of two small light-harvesting complexes: Fenna–Matthews–Olson and fucoxanthin–chlorophyll protein. Quantum mechanics calculations of the pigment properties, combined with an electrostatic description of the protein, allowed us to construct the full Hamiltonian and calculate the exciton lifetimes and the absorption spectra. The resulting off-resonant terms in the Hamiltonian are significant and cannot be excluded from calculations of linear (or non-linear) spectra.
Cryptic biodiversity of freshwater fish species in Bangladesh
Unrecognized cryptic species impede conservation planning and biodiversity assessments. DNA barcoding has tremendously expanded the number of novel and cryptic species in biological science. Despite few sporadic studies, the exact number of freshwater species found in Bangladesh is not known. To assess this biodiversity, we sequenced the COI gene of 124 freshwater specimens, which were gathered from various localities around Bangladesh. Seven cryptic species hidden among the currently studied specimens were identified based on the findings of phylogenetic and species delimitation analyses. The preliminary assessment also encompassed a restricted morphological examination of these cryptic taxa. The appearance of cryptic species, some of them possibly endemic, has been hypothesized. This raises concerns regarding the true diversity and evolutionary history of freshwater species in Bangladesh, which are significantly underrepresented in the current systematic frameworks that do not account for DNA data. Our current study provides baseline data that might aid local ichthyologists in their quest to identify additional new species by combining several variables (morphology and ecology). Further research is warranted to protect the priceless freshwater species in Bangladesh.
Prediction model for identifying a high-risk group for food insecurity among elderly South Koreans
Correlated vibrational coherence and spectral diffusion analysis of multi-level systems using two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy
Two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES) is used to theoretically and experimentally study a minimal three level “V” system (3LVS) with one ground state and two excited states coupled to common displaced harmonic oscillator modes. The third order non-linear optical response functions with frequency fluctuation correlation functions and frequency fluctuation cross correlation functions were derived using the displaced harmonic oscillator model to characterize the diagonal and cross-peaks. The two lowest vibronic transitions of a 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)-pentacene (TIPS-Pn) molecule serve as a model system for the 3LVS considered above. TIPS-Pn’s 2DES spectra were measured and analyzed using the center line slope (CLS) method. The CLSs of both the diagonal and cross-peaks consist of an exponential decay and an underdamped mode oscillating at a frequency of 264 cm−1, corresponding to the long axis breathing mode of the pentacene moiety of TIPS-Pn. The CLS oscillations’ amplitude and phase of both the diagonal and cross-peaks were measured to have a specific relationship with each other, which is well predicted and simulated by our theory for the 3LVS of TIPS-Pn. We estimate an effective Huang–Rhys factor of ∼0.27, which quantifies the coupling of the two vibronic transitions to the long axis breathing mode of the pentacene moiety of TIPS-Pn. We show that such simultaneous CLS analysis recovering the amplitudes and phase relationships between diagonal peaks and cross-peaks measures the correlated vibrational coherences of different states. This can be used to quantify how different excited states or multi-chromophoric states are coupled to common modes in more complex multistate systems.
