Abstract

Graphene is a promising two-dimensional material for practical applications in nanoelectronics due to its mechanical robustness and high conductivity. Here, we present an approach to induce current rectification in graphene by introducing periodically arranged circular scattering potentials of alternating small and large sizes. These potentials interact asymmetrically with electron wave packets, depending on the direction of propagation. By carefully tuning the size and height of the potential barriers, we achieve a rectification ratio that approaches a factor of 2, thus effectively controlling the directional flow of current. This configuration allows for selective suppression or enhancement of current in specific directions, paving the way for the development of graphene-based rectifying devices.
