Tailoring structural, magnetic, and magneto-dielectric features of (Gd1−<i>x</i>Nd<i>x</i>)3Fe5O12 (<i>x</i> = 0.0–0.4) garnet ceramics
Abstract
Magneto-dielectric materials are promising for advanced energy storage due to their combined magnetic and dielectric properties. Here, we explore (Gd1−xNdx)3Fe5O12 garnet samples (x=0.0−0.4), crystallizing in a cubic phase (80–300K). We found that the lattice constant increases from 12.4961 to 12.5496Å with Nd3+ substitution, influencing spin reorientation (Tsr,10–60K) and shifting magnetic compensation (Tcomp) from 291 to 200K. Room-temperature magnetization rises significantly from 0.71to10.76emu/g. The data analysis confirms the presence of magneto-dielectric coupling, which arises from the alignment of dielectric loss with magnetic transitions. Both positive and negative magneto-dielectric responses are evident in the isothermal curves, which can be attributed to the polycrystalline nature and magnetostriction of the system. These garnets offer high thermal stability, tunable magnetism, and strong magneto-dielectric performance, making them ideal for energy storage.
