Spin-wave-driven motion of a domain wall in a compensated ferrimagnet nanostripe
Abstract
We propose a micromagnetic model of thin films of rare-earth iron garnets (REIGs), and we apply it to simulate the spin-wave (SW)-driven motion of domain walls (DWs) in REIG nanostripes at the compensation point. This method to translate DWs is of especial importance for dielectric ferrimagnets that are widely studied materials for magnonics. An analysis of the SW–DW interaction is performed using the example of GdIG stripes with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. We discuss the relationship between the DW velocity and the transmission and reflection of SWs from the DW, focusing on low-frequency (GHz) range excitation frequencies and obtaining DW velocities of the order of 10–100 m/s. The GHz range corresponds to the gap of the ferrimagnetic SW spectrum, leading to SW–DW interaction in compensated ferrimagnets different from the widely studied SW-driven motion of DWs in ferromagnetic wires.
