Smart Plant Management System for Green House Farming
Abstract
Modern agriculture encounters several problems, such as unpredictable climatic conditions, excessive water consumption, and the constant need for human intervention. Greenhouse farming makes crop cultivation in a controlled environment possible, but manual monitoring of temperature, humidity, and soil moisture often results in inefficiency and dependency on Labor. The paper discusses an IoT-based Smart Plant Management System, where ESP8266 has been integrated with DHT11, PIR motion, and soil moisture sensors for automation in a greenhouse by monitoring and irrigating the crops. Data collected from the environment are sent over the internet to the Blynk IoT app for real-time observation and control using Wi-Fi connectivity. The proposed model also activates a water pump automatically when the soil moisture goes below the threshold level, preventing loss of excess water and hence maintaining the healthiness of the plant. The low-cost, scalable, and user-friendly designed system gives remote access to improve accuracy in monitoring. Testing confirms that data transmission is effective, performance is stable, and visualization in real time is possible over Blynk; hence, the use of IoT techniques is feasible in smart greenhouse automation.
