Abstract

This paper presents a non-destructive testing technology method for ferromagnetic metallic materials based on the Lorentz force, which solves the problem that the testing range of traditional non-destructive testing methods is all concentrated on the surface or near-surface of the material, making it difficult to detect internal defects in ferromagnetic metallic materials. Magneto-acoustic-electric non-destructive testing can measure the electrical conductivity of a medium with the spatial resolution of ultrasonic waves, enabling the testing of internal defects in metallic materials. However, in the past, only the magneto-acoustic-electric testing of non-ferromagnetic metallic materials was studied, without taking into account the influence of the magnetic field and the magnetic permeability of the metal. In this paper, the mathematical model of ferromagnetic materials has been established, and further simulation and experimental research have been conducted. The signal of magneto-acoustic-electric testing on defective Q345 steel plates was obtained, thus achieving the testing of internal defects in ferromagnetic conductive metal materials. The objective is to expand the scope of non-destructive testing of magnetic–acoustic–electric metal materials from non-ferromagnetic conductive metals to all conductive metals.
