Design and Implementation of an IoT-Based Smart Agricultural Monitoring System
Abstract
Design and implementation of an IoT-based smart agricultural monitoring system designed to automate and enhance farming efficiency using IoT technology. Agriculture plays a vital role in the global economy, and advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies have paved the way for smart farming solutions. This paper presents the design and implementation of an IoT-based smart agricultural monitoring system that automates irrigation, monitors soil and water parameters, and integrates AI-based fruit quality detection. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller as the core processing unit connected to sensors including a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) sensor, soil moisture sensor, and water flow sensor. A motor driver controls two irrigation motors based on sensor readings, while the HC-05 Bluetooth module transmits real-time data to a mobile dashboard for remote monitoring. The AI module classifies fruit quality using image processing techniques to ensure better crop yield and market value. The proposed system enhances water management, improves crop productivity, and reduces manual intervention, offering a scalable and low-cost smart farming solution.
