Correspondence on “Highly Selective Electrocatalytic 1,4‐NADH Regeneration Based on Host–Guest Recognition Mediated by Cucurbit[8]uril on NiO”

Abstract

Abstract Recently, Ning et al., have reported a very interesting and promising electrochemical method of 1,4‐NADH regeneration. NAD + forms host–guest complex with the cucurbit[8]uril anchored to the NiO surface, and then NAD + approaches the surface‐adsorbed hydrogen atoms on NiO, which leads to the effective 1,4‐NADH regeneration. It is reasonable to expect that the method will find practical application in the industrial processes in which 1,4‐NADH is employed, lowering their costs. The only part of the article by Ning et al., which seems to be disputable, is the reported mass spectrometry data, sometimes a lack of data, as described in detail in this correspondence.
