A novel dual-function, dual-band, and dual-polarized metasurface-based carpet cloak with low radar cross section
Abstract
Realizing electromagnetic (EM) stealth of targets has always attracted worldly concerns. Metasurfaces provide an alternative way for stealth. Currently, the primary methods include the radar cross section (RCS) reduction metasurface and the metasurface carpet cloak. However, no research has combined the RCS reduction metasurface and metasurface carpet cloak to obtain stealth, and existing metasurfaces suffer from limited frequency and polarization or complicated structure. This paper presents a novel method for devising a metasurface-based EM stealth device. The device simultaneously possesses functions of reducing the RCS and mimicking the metal plane’s EM behavior by integrating the RCS reduction metasurface and metasurface carpet cloak. Simulation and experiment results verify that the designed novel metasurface-based device carries dual functions and can effectively achieve EM stealth at dual bands under two polarized states. Findings in this paper have potential application value in realizing EM stealth of targets.
